40! 40 posts! Ah, Ah, Ah…
This is my 40th post on the “Good to Know” newsletter. Amazing. And you are still reading — bless you.
Please accept my deepest gratitude on this Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you are getting a great meal and even better company.
I thought you might want to see what you have done. Here are two charts. The top is from October and the bottom is from November.
Last month (October 2024)
One thousand+ views per month
42 subscribers (6 paid)
Average open rate: not quite 60%
This month
Nearly 1300 views per month
48 subscribers (10 paid)
Average open rate rate: more than 65%
Bottom line: more people are subscribing and more people are reading. And I hope that means you are getting value from “Good to Know.”
November’s Greatest Hits
The three top posts this month cover a range of topics. In first place is a recap of the presidential election and what it portends. Almost 200 people read “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” which ran November 6. And that was without any additional promotion from me (sometimes I send out texts to my friends and family if the post has personal or local appeal).
In second place is a tribute to my boyfriend and the crazy stuff that ends up in our house thanks to his lovely customers. “Stuff My Boyfriend Brings Home” ran November 13 and over 100 people read it. This one did get some additional promo to friends and neighbors.
And in third place, the post from November 12 was a bit of therapy to help us heal from the November 5 debacle. “Slow Your Roll” featured great advice from writer Cal Newport and 89 people checked in for it.
What does it all mean?
These numbers are like box office statistics and I couldn’t care less about them, except that I am trying to figure out what people find helpful in this newsletter. So far, politics (and recovery from politics) seems to be ranking high, along with some personal anecdotes from my crazy home life.
I’ll keep watching the dashboards and trying to deliver the good stuff.
Have a terrific Thanksgiving.
I’ll be in Wenatchee with family this year. I’m a lucky lucky girl.
Status update on the podcast sitch: still working on it. Thanks for your patience
In case you feel like singing along with Rosemary and Bing, here’s a link to “Counting My Blessings” from the movie White Christmas.
See you in December!
